THE POWER OF A MASSAGE We all know that getting a massage is good for you, but how often do we spend that little bit of money on ourselves. The average massage costs about $80 an hour, a lot less than most of us would spend on the average Friday or Saturday night out, yet we probably only get 1 or 2 massages a year. Until recently I admit that was the same. I always classed a massage as a luxury rather than a necessity. That was until about 4 months ago when I started getting them every 3 weeks. The change I have noticed in my body is nothing short of miraculous. When you train a lot, especially using the fast twitch muscle fibres as in boxing and kickboxing, you knot up all your muscle fibres. Stretching afterwards helps to straighten them back out but lactic acid still gets trapped in there and causes the muscles to harden. This limits the range of motion in the limbs and the power those muscles can produce. Regular massage breaks down all the hardened muscle and realises the full potential of your body. It allows more blood to flow through the muscles and therefore more oxygen. It also allows longer leaner muscles to develop and better separation of the muscle fibres. What does that mean? Well to put it simply not only will you notice your posture improve and the benefits of how your body feels, you will also look better. So I urge you all to stop thinking of massages as luxuries and start thinking of them as necessities, not only will you look and feel better you will be able to train harder and longer. If you don't believe me just try it, get a good sports massage every 3 weeks for about 3 months and I promise you'll be amazed by the results. CONGRATULATIONS K-Box would like to offer huge congratulations to Nick and Zac Wyatt-Smith and Marc Hassan, who all recently competed in two martial arts tournaments including the World Cup. - Considering this was their first competition everyone performed incredibly well.
