Kids classes start Mon 16/02/2009


K-Box Studios was born out of Jeremy Webb's love of training specifically in boxing, kickboxing and martial arts. Jeremy has a firm belief in the studios motto and knows that life is so much more enjoyable when you are fit, strong and healthy. With Australia now becoming the second fattest nation on the planet, behind America, there is a greater need to promote this message than ever before. A massive 60% of Australians are either overweight or obese; a shocking statistic that needs to be changed and the best place to start is with kids and teenagers.

Today's kids live in a different world – one where television, computers and video games have replaced many of the physical activities children once enjoyed. In fact nowadays things like ‘obesity’, ‘heart disease’, ‘high blood pressure’ and ‘diabetes’ actually affect kids of pre-school age and above!

Fitness seems to have taken a backseat and as a result kids are becoming inactive, unmotivated and their health is deteriorating before they are old enough to know the danger they are in.

The good news (I know you were hoping that there was some!) is that is doesn’t take much to alter this pattern and get kids healthy and fit in a fun and engaging way! For kids and teens exercise can be as simple as playing and being physically active at least three times a week.

The health benefits of regular exercise for kids are amazing:

In an ideal world kids should take part in some strength training along with aerobic exercise such as running & jumping, which keeps the heart and lungs in shape. After months of research and planning K-Box Instructors have developed a kids program using many of the same fun techniques practiced in the adults classes but designed with short attention spans in mind! Fun activities such as jumping, punching, kicking, tag games, floor work like sits ups and mini push ups add to the overall blend of the classes and will give kids a good workout but seem like they are just playing. The classes are designed to improve eye co-ordination, motor skills, running, catching, throwing, jumping and balance. As a result K-Box kids will learn sports skills used at school and enjoy socialising with friends because they have the confidence to join in all activities.

No-one can match the reputation K-Box has built for itself over the past 6 years, with unanimous feedback stating that no other studio offers the level of care, teaching and one to one personal attention that K-Box Instructors give to their students.

Classes are tailored to suit the age and skill levels of each individual child. K-Box Kids is open to kids from 10 - 15 year olds. Those aged 16 years and above can attend the adult classes (based on advancement assessment done by studio Instructors).
